Quaint Cafe at Rafter & Rose
WOW! You have to check out Rafter & Rose!
Rafter & Rose is a French provincial styled café, providing a brunch menu made with love from locally sourced ingredients including organic when available.
Elle and Candy are the ladies behind Rafter & Rose and are passionate about food and providing warm customer service.
This café has been open for less than a week but Candy mentioned they have had the time to really think through the menu and café styling over the past year. And it shows.
Unlike some cafés where little care has been considered for dietary intolerance, all menu items have gluten and dairy options as a first thought.
They serve Gold Coast slow roasted Big Joe’s Coffee which is full-bodied, provides a sustained caffeine buzz and packs an unusual, yet delicious, fruity flavour.
Cappuccinos are topped with Ivory Coast chocolate which is dairy and gluten-free and has a rich flavour.
There is Gold Coast sourced loose leaf available and the iced tea brewed on premises uses organic green tea and fresh fruit. Perfect to sip on a hot Queensland day.
The Hemp Super Smoothie is made from fruit, açai, hemp, coconut water and house-made coconut milk yoghurt. Super healthy, hearty and refreshing. Candy and Elle swear by these, each enjoying one every morning.
All cakes including pastry shells for tarts, quiches and pies are made on premises, including the sourdough croissants.
Did somebody say sourdough croissant? The sourdough croissant has a traditional texture and deep flavour, as the sourdough ferment is weeks old and the entire croissant’s leavening process take 3 days. The flavour is distinctly European.
Ham is sourced from local free range female pigs (female pigs have a less gamey flavour) and the pigs are humanely processed.
Any jams or chutneys served are made by Rafter & Rose.
At the counter you will find heirloom and organic produce for sale, locally made jams, pickled onions and raw unfiltered honey. The jams and honeys are absolutely perfect home warming presents for when visiting friends.
European artisan blacksmiths are creating French provincial styled wrought iron gates to welcome patrons and entice you into the lane-way seating.
Elle and Candy love great food, are affable and have created a very special haven on Ellenborough.
Trading hours will soon extend to 6pm and there are plenty of other plans afoot in the short-to-mid-term. To find out more, you will have to keep popping in. We will.
